Engineering, procurement, and construction for a sample plant in Chihuahua, Mexico
Halyard engineered, procured, and constructed a sample plant for the client’s exploration program in Chihuahua, Mexico. In addition to being able to withstand severe wind loads of up to 150 km/h and high seismic activity, the modular plant also needed to be easy to dismantle and transport by flatbed truck. To meet a tight deadline, Halyard applied its fast-track project methodology, progressing engineering in all disciplines concurrently.
A clever arrangement of compound structures to jointly support the feed conveyor and sample tower eliminated the need for a large foundation and Halyard designed all of the electrical cable connections to the motors using quick connections that would not require an electrician to disconnect the wires.
Upon dismantling and shipping the sample plant to the client’s site, Halyard engineers were present to assist with reassembly and recommissioning. The on-site installation went smoothly and there was ample time left to train the operators on the function and maintenance of their new sample plant.
