Halyard was engaged by Alamos Gold to install a Pebble Crusher on the SAG mill circuit at its operating Young-Davidson Mine site in northern Ontario.
The existing circuit featured a pebble recycling system without crushing making. Because of this, the plant rejected all the SAG pebbles and the scats from the circuit until the new pebble crusher was installed. Halyard designed a new system to incorporate a Metso HP200 cone crusher, scats removal and pebble feed.
This circuit had numerous special features that enabled the simultaneous reintroduction of 500,000 tons of pebbles alongside the normal pebble production. The system also had to remove the steel scats in order to project the crusher. Additionally, the crusher was dynamically controlled by a VFD as a function of the feed load which was a varying combination of SAG pebbles and stockpiled pebbles.
